  • How Should We Respond on the Precipice of War? November 21, 2024
If you were enjoying a quiet Sunday without technology, you may have missed the most dangerous news headline of our generation: “Biden Authorizes the Ukraine to Use U.S. Long-Range Missiles in Russian Territory.” Quietly, on the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time, when we as a Church contemplated Christ’s return, tribulation, and hardship, our sitting president […]

Our Rock

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” Psalm 18:2

In today’s readings we see Jeremiah calling out to God in the midst of hard circumstances of betrayal and persecution. Then we see Jesus challenged because he claims to be the Son of God.  As Christians, we may find ourselves faced with similar circumstances because of our beliefs.

How will we respond when others call us names or don’t agree with our belief in God?  Jesus looks to his relationship with his Father and tells people even if they don’t believe him, then believe because of the works he does. Wisdom 2:10-22 speaks of the thoughts of the wicked in regard to what Jesus experienced.  God is our rock,  our very foundation.  If we live our lives as God calls us to be, then our words and our witness should be enough, no matter what others think or say.  We can take stock that he is our refuge, our shield and stronghold in those times.

Let us pray for strength in those times and to pray for those who disagree with us, that they too will find Jesus and come to believe.  Then like Jesus, let our works show our faith in God.
